The Elmore Fiddle Camp will be held on July 11-17, 2011, at Cisco Junior College in Cisco, Texas. Classes will cover a variety of fiddle styles that include Texas Swing, Texas Contest Fiddling, Bluegrass, Celtic, and Jazz. Instructors for 2011 will include Randy Elmore, Marty Elmore, Jules Graylion, Dick Gimble, Danny Levin, Bill Mitchell, Dale Morris, Valerie Ryals, and Wes Westmoreland.
The teaching staff will be concentrating on the needs of students at a variety of skill levels. The first two days of camp, all students will work with each of the seven main teachers. On day three, classes will be more specialized as to the type of fiddling. Days four and five will include workshops concentrating on Music Theory, Improvisation, Double Stops, Twin Fiddle Harmony, and Solo Playing.
The guitar classes will be taught by two teachers. The first half of the week will be Texas Swing and the second half of the week will be Texas Contest Backup.
We have had a few requests concerning banjo, mandolin, and piano classes. We are currently looking into adding this instruction to the camp schedule. More will be posted about these classes in the very near future.
The camp has grown each year, and we are constantly striving to make classes more challenging and more rewarding for all levels. With this year's staff of teachers, I think we can more than reach that goal. I look forward to seeing everyone at camp in July for a week of music, learning, fun, and fellowship.
